Correlated electron and magnetic groundstates of intermetallic and metal oxide materials. Of particular interest are materials that exhibit local moment magnetism coexisting with superconductivity, metal-to-insulator transitions, mixed valence and heavy Fermion effects or large Kerr-rotation. Specific emphasis is placed on design, discovery, and growth of new exotic materials in single crystal form.
